I'm running for the United States Senate because there is a sickness in our politics, and it has prevented us from solving our biggest challenges: the rising cost of health care, climate change, and a crumbling infrastructure. We can do better. I firmly believe life is not about how many times you get pushed down, it's how you get back up. It's time to restore the health of our democracy and reclaim our destiny with a common purpose.
Growing up, my sister and I were raised by a strong single mother who did everything to help us succeed. I went on to get a college degree and an MD, enlisted in the Army as a doctor and served in the conflict in Kosovo. Today, I'm a minister, a doctor, a husband, and a father of two wonderful kids. I know North Carolinians deserve better than they're getting from Washington today.
